Tales and Fables
INSPIRED BY MY OWN WORKS AND OTHERS...
So many plants and flowers, each with their own unique shape and texture, it's unique scent of fragant blooms. She breathed in and with that breath, her heart filled with joy at the natural beauty around her. She spotted the vibrant orange of marigolds, their petals glowing as if they were mini suns in the warmth of the afternoon sun. She touched their petals and felt the softness of them, as if made of velvet. Lily then walked to a group of tall sunflowers, and admired their bright yellow petals that followed the sun as it moved across the sky. Then came across delicate roses, dancing in the gentle breeze as it lifted their fragance. There were daffodils with their yellow soft petals, red vibrant poppies and so many others as far as Lily's eyes could see. She was walking through a symphony of colors and scents, each more beautiful and sweet than the last, making her feel invigorated and alive. All over the flowers the bees buzzed left and right, busy collecting nectar from the many blooms around her.
As Lily walked further into the garden, she came across a grove of trees towering over her, their branches reaching up towards the sky. She felt the rustling sound of leaves beneath her bare feet as she entered further and further into the garden, now dappled in the shade of the branches of the towering trees. As she walked, Lily started hearing the chirping of birds in the branches above her filling the air. She looked up to the trees and saw a variety of birds flitting from tree to tree. She noticed a group of brightly-colored parrots, their feather a kaleidoscope of greens, reds, yellows and blues. Then heard steady rythm of a woodpecker tapping out on an nearby tree trunk with his sharp beak as a pair of sparrows danced in the air, chirping and fluttering back and forth. She felt awed as she watched the birds play. A flock of finches flitted from branch to brnach, their wings blurred by their rapid movement. There were so many birds, big and small, all colorful and lively as she walked deeper into the garden, accompanied by their cheerful chirping and delightful birdsongs. Lily closed her eyes for brief moments, enjoying the symphony of sounds around her. She started to feel calm and tranquil. Lily strolled deeper into the garden, ever accompanied by the sweet scent of the flowers, the cheerful chirping of the birds and the sun peeking through the branches, it's golden light casting patterns of light and shadow on the ground below. She ket walking through this garden as the sunlight intensified and the breeze gently rustled the leaves. As the day wore on, the light seemed to shimmer and dance, it's rays slowly casting longer shadows and painting the garden in hues of orange. The breeze began to still and the leaves to cease their soothing sound along the birds ceasing their chirping and gracious dances and the air serened. Lily saw the sun sinking lower and lower, it's light softer and softer and hasted the pace until arriving at a clearing. There was, much to Lily's awe and excitment, a gigantic book. It's brownish red cover worn and tattered amde it look like the book had been there for so long, maybe had been read and reread by others that entered the garden, like Lily. As she drew closer and closer, the book seemed to call to her. She felt the rough texture of it's cover beneath her fingertips. With a brief sense of fear mixed with amazement, Lily started to feel as if the book was alive. She felt the pulsing of the book grow stronger and stronger and then she felt an urge to open the book and star reading it's pages. As Lily started to read, the words semed to jump of the pages and she began to hear the character's voices in her ears. As she read, she became more and more immersed in the stories, page after page, word after word. As the sun began to sink into the horizon, casting longer and longer shadows and painting the garden with brief hues of gold and then red, Lily suddenly realized the passing of time, so absorbed she was in the pages of the book. As the last light faded away and the sky began to be lit by the stars, like tiny pins of light, Lily finally closed the book. She gazed up at the sky and felt the cold of the grass beneath her feet. The clearing and the garden felt so peaceful and quiet, the birds no longer chirping, the leaves still and quiet. Lily felt her eyes slowly closing. Finally, Lily gradually climbed on top of the book and laid on the giant book, it serving as her bed. She gazed up to the sky and her eyes began to close as the stars began to shine brighter and brighter and the moon began it's rise to the night sky. Lily drifted off into sleep, dreaming of all the wonders she saw in this garden of magic and wonder. Comments are closed.
