Tales and Fables
INSPIRED BY MY OWN WORKS AND OTHERS...
Suddenly the cat looked up to find a gorgeous singing bird perched on the open window. She admired it's colorful feathers, it's cheerful voice and graceful movements. She used to stare at the bird, as the bird sang every morning, sometimes on the balcony, sometimes over the tree which hung next to the window. The bird kept singing, unconcerned of the cat being there, and paused every once in a while as the cat stoode there, quiet and still, like a spellbound audience member, while the bird looked back at her with curiousity.
The next morning, the same little singing bird came back and sang the same songs. The cat found a comfortable spot near the window and stared at the bird in awe, pleased with herself. She kept staring a the singing the bird until the bird flew away. She tried to imitate the bird, flapped her paws and jumped into the windowsill to the floor and ended up landing clumsily. Then laid on the armchair. Oh, if only she could join the little bird in the sky, feeling the wind beneath her fur and the warmth of the sun on her back, the cat thought. One day, the bird came back but didn't sing. Instead, it stood at the window and stared at the cat intently. As if it was trying to tell something. They looked each other in the eyes and the cat felt a strange connection. They seemed to understand each other. The bird tilted it's head and chirped softly, as if it were inviting the cat to follow it. She hurried up the window and jumped to the street, turned around and followed the bird down the street and into a nearby alley. They then darted into the shadows and deeper into what seemed like a maze. She felt nervous, but also excited for what the bird had to share with her. All of a sudden, the cat took off into the air, first it floated slowly but soon began to soar higher and higher. She was flying!! She was feeling the breeze through her fur, she felt free and exhilarated! The bird followed the cat and they soared over the roofs, seeing faraway sights the cat had never seen before. The bird showed her all the wonderful things from above as they flew over distant lands, through windy clouds and thunderstorms, through moonlit forests and suncolored mountains, past flocks of colorful birds, all chirping as one. Suddenly, they were surrounded by flocks of other birds, crows, seagulls, eagles and sparrows and so many others of different shapes and sizes, all flying in perfect formation. For the first in her life, the cat felt a part of something bigger and amazing. The cat was stunned by the fantastic sights and sounds, in awe of the majestic world that lied below her. She saw hot springs steaming into lakes, castles tucked away on a hillside, shrowded in mist and standing proudly atop a mountain. She felt the salty sea air in her whiskers and the saw the bright stars disappearing as they flew closer and closer to them. So many wonderful things the bird had shown the cat, she felt she was living her dream. Much more than her dream. Time moved quickly as they kept soaring high above the ground and soon she found herself tumbling through the clouds until she landed on the ground with a thud. She was back at the street in front of her window. And for a brief moment they stared at each other in amazement and reverence, in reconition of a new companionship and connection between them. She felt a bit sad, as it was time to say goodbye to her new friend. The bird began to sing it's song as the cat returned indoors and then flew away. Comments are closed.
